Kellie 2 Kellie 4 Jennifer Jennifer 1Although she never went home with "American Idol" the title, Kellie Pickler was one of the show's best alumni. Kellie Pickler was born on 28 June 1986 to Cynthia Morton Pickler and Clyde Raymond Pickler in Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. The time she was pregnant she was just 16 years old. Her childhood was hard for her due to her father's addiction to alcohol and drugs, when Pickler's mother left her when she was just 2. Morton gained the custody of Pickler for two years. However, Pickler acknowledged that not everything was going well. "I was in the kitchen with my mother when I stated to her: 'I would rather die than stay here.' She pulled out a knife, placed it on top of the counter and told me, "Here, you do it." It was fourth grade. I was in fourth grade "Of obviously, I could not do anything about the incident. It has nevertheless left me with a lot emotional wounds." Pickler, who was then at the age of 12 was handed to her parents after the hearing. Pickler was taken care of by her grandparents all her life and cited them as the primary influence on her life. Faye Pickler, the grandmother whom she raised, died from lung cancer in 2001. The grandfather continued to look after Pickler. Pickler has graduated from the North Stanly High School in New London (North Carolina).
