Nichols has won two Emmy Awards during her nine-year period at ESPN and was featured in many of the network's most popular programs like NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, moved to ESPN after the year 2004. Additionally, she was a sideline journalist for the Monday Night Football broadcasts. Following her departure from ABC, her following station was CNN and Turner Sports. Nichols worked as a journalist at TNT during this period, reporting on NBA broadcasts such as playoff games, regular season games or All-Star teams. Nichols also covered golf, baseball, and Final Four broadcasts for CBS as well as TBS. This is the first time in the award's 42-year-old history that a woman was nominated amongst the more than 200 candidates.
