Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. She was made the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell has been a panelist and anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. She has covered several notable reports over time, including the tax reforms, budget reforms and the Iran Contra scandal. She travelled frequently together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
